Leroy Rosenior’s return to Torquay United, as covered on TMN, has ended after just 10 minutes. Or has it? No-one’s really sure but Rosenior, never one to shy away from a bit of publicity, has been chortling away to anyone who’ll listen about his hilariously premature Plainmoor ejection. Ahem.

The official line is that a new consortium bought the club soon after Leroy’s appointment and, within minutes of the official announcement of Rosenior as manager, he’d been shown the door cos the New Men in Town had Other Ideas. Well, the consortium hasn’t signed the papers yet so this is rubbish, yet Leroy’s convinced he’s gone, and in strangely good humour for it. But why oh why?
The more cynical out there have suggested he was used by outgoing overlord Mike Bateson as a ruse – a sign to the consoritum (who’d had an earlier bid for the club dismissed as unacceptable) that Bateson was intent on staying and they’d have to pay top dollar to get the club. It seems to have worked, and Rosenior will get a 6 month pay off for the time it took to host one platitude-ridden press conference.
We await the next installment of the Plainmoor Fiasco with something bordering on mild interest…
